What we collect when you shop with us, why we need it, who we share it with, and how to ask us to change or delete it.

The short version
- We collect what we need to take your order, deliver it and answer your questions. Nothing more.
- We do not sell or rent your personal information.
- Card details go straight to Stripe. We never store them.
- You can ask us to show you, correct or delete the information we hold. Email support@bjnicolsfurniture.com.
1. Who we are
BJ Nicols Furniture Empire operates the website bjnicolsfurniture.com and a furniture showroom at
5936 Myrtle Ave.Ridgewood, NY 11385. In this policy, we, us and our mean BJ Nicols Furniture Empire. This policy explains what we do with personal information collected through this website.
2. Information we collect
Information you give us
- Name, email address, telephone number, billing address and delivery address, when you place an order or create an account.
- Order contents, order history and any delivery instructions you add.
- The content of messages you send us through the contact form, by email or by telephone.
- Product reviews and any name you choose to publish with them.
Information collected automatically
- IP address, browser type, device type, operating system and screen size.
- Pages viewed, the page that referred you, and the time and date of each visit.
- Cookies and similar technologies, described in section 6.
Information we do not collect
We do not receive or store your full card number, card expiry date or security code. Those go directly from your browser to our payment processor. We see only the last four digits, the card brand and whether the payment succeeded.
3. How we use your information
- To process, pack, ship and deliver your order, and to handle returns and refunds.
- To send transactional messages such as order confirmations, shipping notifications and delivery scheduling.
- To answer questions you send us and to provide customer support.
- To detect and prevent fraudulent orders and misuse of the site.
- To meet legal, tax and accounting obligations.
- To understand how the site is used so we can improve it.
- To send marketing email, but only if you have asked to receive it. Every marketing email has an unsubscribe link, and unsubscribing never affects your order.
4. Who we share information with
We share personal information only with the parties below, and only with the information each one needs:

We do not sell, rent or trade your personal information to anyone. We do not share your information with advertising networks for their own purposes.
5. Where your information is stored
Our website and its databases are hosted on servers located in the United States. If you access the site from outside the United States, your information is transferred to and processed there.
6. Cookies
Cookies are small text files stored by your browser. We use them for the following purposes:
- Strictly necessary. Keeping items in your shopping cart, keeping you signed in, and securing checkout. The site cannot function without these.
- Preferences. Remembering choices such as a selected product option, so you do not have to set them again.
- Analytics. Counting visits and understanding which pages are used, in aggregate.
You can block or delete cookies in your browser settings. If you block strictly necessary cookies, the cart and checkout will not work.
7. How long we keep information
- Order records and invoices: seven years, to satisfy tax and accounting requirements.
- Customer account details: for as long as the account is open, and then removed on request.
- Contact form and support messages: two years from the last message in the thread.
- Server and analytics logs: up to twelve months.
8. Your rights and choices
You can ask us to:
- Tell you what personal information we hold about you and provide a copy of it.
- Correct anything that is inaccurate or incomplete.
- Delete information we no longer need to keep for legal or accounting reasons.
- Stop sending you marketing email.
Email support@bjnicolsfurniture.com with your request. We reply within 30 days. We may ask you to confirm your identity before we release or delete information, so that nobody else can make a request in your name. Exercising any of these rights costs nothing and does not affect the service you receive.
9. California residents
If you live in California, the California Consumer Privacy Act gives you the right to know what categories of personal information we collect, why we collect them and with whom we share them, the right to request deletion, and the right not to be treated differently for exercising those rights. The categories are set out in sections 2, 3 and 4 above. We do not sell personal information and we do not share it for cross context behavioural advertising. 10. Children
This site is intended for adults. We do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 13 years of age. If you believe a child has given us personal information, contact support@bjnicolsfurniture.com and we will delete it.
11. Security
The site is served over an encrypted HTTPS connection. Access to order and customer data is limited to staff who need it, and is protected by individual accounts. Payment data is handled entirely by our payment processor. No system can be described as perfectly secure, but we take these measures seriously and review them.
We will never contact you to ask for your password, your full card number or your card security code.
12. Third party links
Our site links to other websites, including our listings on Facebook, Yelp and Google Maps. Those sites have their own privacy policies and we are not responsible for their content or their practices.
13. Changes to this policy
If we change this policy we update the date at the top of this page. Significant changes are announced on this page for at least 30 days. Continuing to use the site after a change means you accept the updated policy.
