1. Our approach

Accessibility is treated as part of building the site rather than as an afterthought. When we add or change a page, we check it against the practices below.

2. What we do

• Text and background colours are chosen to meet the contrast ratios set out in WCAG 2.1 Level AA.
• Pages use real headings in order, so a screen reader can move through the structure.
• Product and decorative images carry appropriate alternative text.
• Menus, forms, filters and the checkout can be operated with a keyboard alone, and the focused element is always visible.
• Form fields have visible labels, and errors are described in text rather than by colour alone.
• Layouts reflow for small screens and remain usable when text is enlarged to 200 percent.
• Animation is kept minimal and respects the reduced motion setting in your operating system.

3. Known limitations

Some parts of the site rely on third party services, including our payment processor and embedded maps. We do not control the code those services produce, and their accessibility may differ from the rest of the site. Product descriptions supplied by manufacturers occasionally arrive as formatted text that is less clean than our own writing. We correct these as we find them.
